Classes that inspire

SiMCP Fun Fact:

This program is rooted in the Peer Support Values and Embodiment Practices that started my own coaching journey way back when. They gives a beautifully rich dynamic to the relationships you’ll form as you begin to practice health, wellness, and life coaching.

Individual Stand-alone Courses

All courses are approved by Colorado DPOS, so all graduates of the Massage Therapy Foundations program are eligible to sit for the licensing exam in Colorado!

- We are accepting applications for the February 2027 cohort!

MTFP Fun Fact:

I started day dreaming of this curriculum before I even went to massage school - it’s inspired by rock climbing, mental health communities, the Connecticut river, and the TCM-integrated fascial work that I received from my mentor.

FAQs

What do I get after I graduate?

1

After you graduate you are going to have your massage Massage Therapy Certificate.

Having that certificate from an approved school like this one, and passing the MBLEx (massage and bodywork licensing exam) which we prepare you for are what you need to get a license to be a Licensed Massage Therapist.

DORA - Department Of Regulatory Agencies - are the only ones who can give someone licensure - you can see all the details of what you need for that here: DORA massage therapy licensing guide

What is an approved school and is that different than accredited?

2

An approved school, like the School of Embodied Works, is a school that the DPOS - the department of private occupational schools - has evaluated and deemed qualified to offer successful training programs and student support to give students what they paid for: in this case, a high quality massage therapy and coaching education that prepares you for life as a successful massage therapy practitioner.

We created a peer reviewed curriculum, a school catalog full of policies and procedures for supporting students, hired qualified teachers, and prepared a financial plan that ensures we are able to provide everything you need to thrive as a massage therapy student. and successfully prepare you to get your license when you graduate. DPOS agrees, and has approved our program.

Accreditation is something schools can seek out through non-legal entities that have various standards they set for the industry. Accreditation is not required for licensure, and although those standards are valuable, and the school of embodied works follows many of the guidelines suggested by those entities, because we have a unique focus on relationship skills and business readiness, our program isn’t built to the same specs as other massage schools. We aren’t seeking accreditation at this time.

What makes you different?

3

Embodied Works takes a different approach to massage therapy education. Here, the touch skills are just one of three foundational skill sets that we see as critical for the kind of body work we do here:

  1. relationship skills and strong ethics through a peer lens

  2. touch skills that emphasis consent, cultural competency, and the reality that trauma affects the tissue

  3. business skills for solo practitioners looking to make a living in the late-stage capitalism of the US.

We keep it real. We aren’t here to teach you to massage people. We are here to teach you how to deeply attune to your clients, develop highly impactful touch therapy skills, and use all of your pre-existing strengths and skills as a human being to create amazing sessions for your clients and a sustainable, financially successful practice for yourself.
